McDodi Farm lies hidden at the end of a sinewy country road in the heart of Burleson. Provided you own a good map and a cell phone, you'll eventually get there. The trip is worth it. Belgium, as you may have guessed, is not exactly a fertile breeding ground for Tennessee Walker horses, so I truly discovered the breed through my numerous visits to Dodi and Jim's facilities. Gentle horses indeed, bred for temperament and spectacular gaits. Fun to photograph (if you can keep them from sniffing your lens!) Fun to ride. Horses with impressive mile long names responding to ridiculously endearing names such as Mouse or Pickles. All the horses may be for sale (except Moose and Mouse to which sales I would strenuously object) but the place feels more like a family affair than a commercial venture.
